Origin is a motion piece intended as part of an audiovisual experience, exploring the thematic of origin from a new perspective through abstract visuals. Drawing from the texts of Stan Brakhage, the visuals were developed with the intention to break from the conditioning of man-made laws of perception, with a disregard for unified structure. Processes that formed this piece derived from John Cage’s exploration of indeterminacy and the ‘possibility of a unique form,’ that led to the visuals being defined without a predisposed narrative, allowing for ideas to be integrated from the moment they were conceived. This added to the nature of Origin and assisted in breaking from conventional structures for this audiovisual experience.
